"I am the volunteer curator of a small museum in southern Indiana. We recently had a fire inspection, and we learned that permanent or long-term use of extension cords is not permitted. However, permanent use of plug strips with surge protectors is permitted. We had a lighted glass display case that had not one but 2 extension cords to get power to its location. The fire inspector told me the extension cords had to go. Then he showed me this particular surge protected power strip on his cell phone. He pointed out that it was relatively inexpensive and would meet fire department requirements. I ordered it, installed it, and had the inspector back to verify that the problem was corrected. Now everybody is happy."
